5:30am Shenanigans

So last night was my first night being all alone with the boys. Jon's leadership students had a team in the Clarkston Relay for Life, so from 7:00am yesterday morning until 10:00am this morning, he has been chaperoning about 50 eighth and ninth graders at the Relay. I took the boys out for most of the day yesterday and they had a blast. Mommy did too... some of Jon's students walked the boys for over an hour so Jon and I were able to walk and spend a little bit of time together :) But then I brought the boys home and daddy stayed overnight. Yikes! The boys crashed at 7:00 and I was asleep by 8:30 just in case they decided to torment me all night. But they did great. They both woke up to eat at 2:00 and I doubled them... I have never done that in the middle of the night before but it worked out great. That is, until I had to get two sleeping babies from the living room to the nursery and INTO their cribs! Matty woke up again at 5:00 but somehow I managed to grab him before Caleb woke up. I fed Matty, put him back in his crib so I could feed Caleb... and the shenanigans began!!!

First he crawled right over to where the two cribs meet to look for his brother. Apparently this is why they are BOTH awake every time we go in there in the middle of the night when we think ONE is awake. When he couldn't see his brother, he started to call for him. I imagine this is the part where Caleb is supposed to wake up and pop his head up, but since he wasn't in the crib this didn't happen. Eventually Matthew got bored of trying to wake his brother and decided to try climbing out of the crib. We have the mattress set at the middle level because they aren't pulling up yet and unless they are standing up, its impossible for me to get them in and out on the lowest level. So I watched his little hand reach up to the side of the crib as he tried to pull himself up. Luckily he wasn't too invested in the effort and gave up before making it to his feet. Bored once again, he quickly discovered that he can strum the crib bumper like a guitar! We have the mesh bumpers and they are pulled pretty tight, so when he plucked it with his finger, it boinged back and smacked against the crib slats, making a wonderful noise! He did this on the front side of the crib about 10 times, then toddled over to the side to see if it made the same noise. Yup! Sure did! By now Caleb was done nursing and I put him back in his crib. Matthew of course saw this and knew his brother was in his rightful place once again, so Matthew crawled over to where the cribs meet and called for his brother :)
